I do not have any questions about the feedback but about the proposal. When is that due and do we turn it in on courseden or where?
I suppose that the authors mean when they say that a successful summary requires “facing two ways at once” means that you have both sides of the argument for it to be successful. Both the side of agreement and the side of disagreement should be included in the summary. You don’t want to be biased when you write your summary. You need to balance the authors writing and come up with a focus and not wander off on different topics. You want it to be relevant and accurate to what you’re writing about. You want to emphasize the most important parts. You don’t want the summary to be inaccurate and don’t put in your own opinion because it can hurt the credibility of it. If you don’t believe what you’re writing about and you aren’t passionate about it then your summary won’t be as real sounding and it will be harder to accomplish and complete. Not just that but you might come across the problem of having to convince yourself to believe it, just to be able to do the writing of it. You have to play a game to where if you disagree with a part of it, you have to write about it as if you believe it. List summaries are where you just list everything, there is no particular order or flow to it. It’s just simply listing and naming things in your summary and it doesn’t get any true point across if you do it like that.
A topic that I thought of from watching this first episode of Black Mirror is having your talents be put down from others who you thought you could rely on. Additionally, when you want to pursue a talent that you have, but then have somebody tell you that they want something else that would supposedly be “better” for you. I think the Black Mirror argues that having your dream be put down is something that happens a lot in today’s society. Everybody in life has been rejected for something specific or by somebody in hopes that they wouldn’t but that is just a part of life. When it comes down to your dream that you want to actually use to make a difference in the world and live your life how you feel is the fullest and you have somebody take that away from you in a sense, then it can be very degrading and it crushes peoples souls and feelings. They did what they were supposed to do and they have the most amazing and beautiful talents but yet it was not enough. The person who has a higher advantage than someone and has power over if they get to pursue their dream or not, has full potential to either make or break you. I personally think that if I wanted to become a singer or an actress and I auditioned for a musical or movie or something along those lines and it was something I had dreamed of becoming my whole entire life and no matter how hard I tried, I still lost the life long battle of trying to make something big of myself, I would be so depressed. I would wonder why I felt all my years of living that that was what I felt like I would be doing with my life eventually.
Social media has big power and influence over our lives. It does not always show the full, true story of what someone’s life is actually like because people only show what they want and choose to show on social media. Most people put the most happiest and exciting times of their lives out for people to see to give the illusion that their lives are perfect, but people do not ever think about what happens behind the screen in between the times that each picture or status is posted. Social media has been linked to more people having bad anxiety, depression, feeling lonely and make people feel like they are not good enough. Instagram models give off the perception to young girls that ones certain body type is the ideal body type that women are “supposed to have” to be considered beautiful, which definitely is not true. Social media should do more praising of all body types instead of focusing on one particular kind that society says is “more attractive”. In other words, some people believe that social media is bad for people’s self esteem and confidence in themselves. While people in other sources believe that social media is good and not bad at all, in their opinion. Those kind of people think that it is good because people can connect with their friends and families better. It supposedly also gives good opportunities for advertising businesses and even job opportunities. My view is on all of this is that just because social media does good for those sorts of reasons, those people from those sources do not think about the health of kids and even adults especially mentally. Also, people who are affected by it mentally might even have it influence them physically. Young women for example, if their body does not look like this Instagram social media model then a lot of girls will start to do unhealthy things to try to reach that same body goal. It is incredibly sad how this world is today with social media, body shame, bullying on media, comparison of lives that aren’t even the full picture. I wish life was more like how it was back in the 80’s or 90’s because today’s beauty standards are made to be almost impossible to reach.

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.
You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
